-------------------------------------

Jan Persson, born in 1787 in Loforsen, Grangärde was the first to bear the name Loström. In parish catechetical meetings 1815-1825 he called himself Persson-Loström.

Jan had 4 siblings but none of them seem to have adopted the name Loström. In 1829 the eldest brother’s surname was Persson only.

Jacob Robert, born in 1843, might also have brought the surname further. Jacob moved in 1868 to Svea Livgarde, Stockholm. Then he is disappeared. He probably moved from there in the mid 70s as there are no change-of-residence records.

Several families emigrated to America at the end of the century. There are many more descendants in the US than in Sweden.

Loström is spelled with single "o" in the US. The few decendants in Sweden spelled the name with double "oo" after 1920.
